How Early Learning Impacts a Lifetime

The first five years of a child’s life are the most critical for learning as the brain develops. This is when early experiences such as education and relationships affect how children behave, learn and even their health as they progress through life. Choosing an early childhood education that provides a nurturing environment with skilled early years educators can significantly impact children’s future outcomes.

According to The Science of Early Childhood Development (InBrief) article,

“The emotional and physical health, social skills, and cognitive-linguistic capacities that emerge in the early years are all important prerequisites for success in school and later in the workplace and community.”

Evidence shows that children who attend three or more years of quality early learning will outperform their peers in reading, maths, and science and obtain higher literacy and numeracy levels between the ages of 11 and 16.

Early childhood education is most effective through play-based learning, where children can explore and discover while using their imagination. Here at Living Waters Lutheran College, our Early Learning Centre (ELC) aims to make early learning a positive, nurturing and fun experience for all children.

With a focus on indoor and outdoor play, our ELC caters for children aged three and a half to six years of age and follows the Early Years Learning Framework and the Western Australian Kindergarten Curriculum Guidelines with the view to prepare students for their first year of compulsory schooling.

Pre-Primary is the first year of formal schooling – with a strong focus on literacy and numeracy, while also exploring Humanities and Social Sciences, Science, Visual Arts, Music and Physical Education. Through a love of learning, Living Waters Lutheran College ensures students aspire to live lives of purpose and integrity and are prepared for future education and life experiences, having had exceptional early learning education.
